An eyelid surgery – also known as a blepharoplasty – is a procedure used to rejuvenate the appearance of the upper and lower eyelids. Age and genetics can cause drooping, sagging, and excess folds around the eyes. This can contribute to both cosmetic and visual complications, including a tired and aged appearance, as well as difficulty seeing. Eyelid surgery with Icon Clinic Plastic Surgeon can take years off the eyes, eliminating under-eye bags, removing upper eye puffiness and reducing the amount of excess skin surrounding the eyes.

Am I a Good Candidate for an Eyelid Surgery?

You may be a candidate for eyelid surgery if you are a non-smoking adult in good health. It is important that you have realistic expectations for the outcome of your blepharoplasty. Remember that the eyelids are part of the face. The appearance of a drooping upper lid may also be due to relaxation of the forehead skin and eyebrow. Sometimes a drooping eyelid is caused by stretching of one of the upper eyelid muscles, the levator muscle. A consultation with Icon Clinic Plastic Surgeon can help you determine whether your facial tissues and eye muscles are healthy enough to undergo a blepharoplasty procedure.

What Should I Expect During My Blepharoplasty Procedure?

This procedure can be performed in the office under local anesthesia, IV sedation or general anesthesia in the operating room. Icon Clinic Plastic Surgeon will carefully form an incision discreetly along the natural crease of the eyelid or along the lower lash line. A brow lift, commonly called a forehead lift, rejuvenates the face above the eyes to restore a more refreshed appearance that better reflects a patient’s natural look. By removing excess sagging, skin on the forehead and repositioning the underlying muscles and tissues, a brow lift can correct a heavy, sagging brow, eliminate deep furrows, and restore a smoother, more youthful contour to the upper one-third of the face.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Brow Lift?

If you have sagging brow that makes you look constantly tired, worried or even angry. Or if you have a heavier, thicker brow, making you look as though you are wearing a frown even when you are feeling your best. A brow lift directly addresses these issues, helping patients enjoy a more naturally refreshed look.

What Should I Expect During a Brow Lift Procedure?

There are two ways by which the surgery is done. The first one is the temporal brow lift, in which incisions about 1-inch long are made just above each temple, behind the hairline. Through these incisions, the surgeon will lift and reposition the tissues of the outer brow area. Then, through the incisions made for an upper eyelid procedure, the area between the eyebrows is lifted to smooth out frown lines.

Second Classic or Coronal Brow Lift
In certain cases, a coronal brow lift may be necessary to achieve a patient’s desired results. This technique involves one long incision made behind the hairline, running from ear to ear. Excess skin, fat and tissue are removed, and the remaining skin and brow muscles are repositioned into a more natural position.

What Post-Operative Instructions Do I Need to Follow After My Forehead and Brow Lift Surgery?

Patients typically experience very little pain after a brow lift, but it is common to feel slight discomfort as well as a sensation of tightness throughout the forehead. Swelling and bruising are most common during the first 10 days or so after surgery and are mostly resolved after about 2 weeks.

Lip Augmentation is a procedure to increase the lip volume and to correct a gummy smile.

Am I a Candidate?

If you have thin lips or your gum shows when smiling, you might benefit from lip augmentation.  The thin lips can be corrected by using hyaluronic acid fillers. And the gummy smile can be corrected by combining botulinum toxin and fillers.
Another way of augmenting the lips is by using fat grafting, where fat is removed from the abdomen or medical thighs and used to augment the lips.

Expect During Lip Augmentation?
The procedure is done in the office. Your doctor will use local anesthetic cream to numb your lips. And then using an aseptic technique he cleans the area, and then use the hyaluronic acid injections to augment the lips.
The procedure takes around 10-15 mines.
As for fat grafting, fluid is infiltrated in the abdomen (called tumescent), and then the fat is collected, with no pain.
The fat is processed and prepared for injection. Then using special injection cannula, the fat is infiltrated in the lips.

Post-Procedure Instructions

The patient should expect to swell and maybe some bruising after the procedure. The doctors will instruct the patient to use ice, and some calming creams the first 2 days. If the patient has a history of herpes infection, then anti-herpes cream might be prescribed.
The result with filler last around 6-8 months and with fat around 1-2 years.

Nose reshaping or rhinoplasty is the most sophisticated of all cosmetic surgeries. The surgeon must change the shape of the nose while preserving its support (outside walls) and its breathing function (inside wall). Nose surgery consists of removing the excess cartilage and the bone. The scars are usually hidden inside the nose. It takes around 1-2 hours depending on the amount of work done.

Am I a Candidate?

If you have a hump in your nose which you do not like, or if you have a wide tip or long tip, even wide nostrils then a nose job or rhinoplasty could be a good solution for you. You must consult with the doctor and explain in depth what is it in your nose you like to change and understand what the doctor can do to enhance and improve your facial feature.

What to Expect During a Nose Job?

The procedure can be done as outpatient surgery or you slip in one night. It is done under local or general anesthesia. At the end of the operation, a small plaster cast is applied to the nose. After a week, the cast is painlessly removed. Most of the swelling and discoloration around the eyes tend to disappear within the following week.

Post-Operative Instructions

Keep head elevated to help reduce the swelling for the first week. No forceful nose blowing is allowed. The patient will be given saline drops to clean the nose and antibiotic ointment to apply to the wound. And pain medications and antibiotics is likewise prescribed for 5 days.
Your nose will continue to improve for at least six months following surgery. Therefore, do not expect to see the results when the cast is removed. Do not be alarmed if the shape of our nose keeps changing during the first few months. On average, you are presentable and may return to work ten days after surgery.

Ear surgery, also known as otoplasty, can improve the shape, position or proportion of the ear. Otoplasty can correct a defect in the ear structure, which might be present at birth, that becomes apparent as you grow older; or it can treat misshapen ears caused by injury. Ear surgery creates a natural shape while bringing balance and proportion to the ears and face. Correction of even minor deformities can have profound benefits to appearance and self-esteem.
If protruding or disfigured ears bother you or your child, you may consider plastic surgery.

Am I a Good Candidate for Ear Surgery?

Children who are good candidates for ear surgery are healthy and generally 5 years of age or older (when a child’s ear cartilage is stable enough for correction), cooperative and able to communicate their feelings. Teenagers and adults who are good candidates for ear surgery are healthy, non-smoking individuals with a positive outlook and specific goals in mind for ear surgery.

What Should I Expect During My Ear Surgery?
You won’t remember anything about your ear surgery, as you’ll be fully sedated using IV sedation or general anesthesia. Incisions for otoplasty are generally made on the back surface of the ear. When incisions are necessary on the front of the ear, they are made within its folds to hide them. Internal, non-removable sutures are used to create and secure the newly shaped cartilage in place.

What Post-Operative Instructions Do I Need to Follow After My Ear Surgery?

Following your surgeon’s instructions is key to the success of your ear surgery. It is important that the surgical incisions are not subjected to excessive force, abrasion, or motion during the time of healing. Our doctors will give you specific instructions on how to care for yourself.

Aging and scarring result in loss of subcutaneous tissue, which is amenable to replacement by fat grafting. Indications for fat grafting include correction of atrophy due to aging or scarring and enhancement of facial elements areas, which includes nasolabial folds, glabellar creases, and tear troughs. Lip augmentation may improve the appearance of fine perioral lines and increase the amount of vermilion show.

Am I a Candidate?

If you have volume loss in your face due to weight loss or aging and not interested in dermal fillers or surgery, then facial fat grafting could be an option for you.

What to Expect During Procedure?

The Doctor will assess if you are a good candidate and plan the areas to be injected.
Then plan the site where the fat is to be harvested, which could be from the abdomen around the umbilicus.
Under local anesthesia and using aseptic technique, a tumescent fluid is injected in the area to be liposuctioned and then the fat is collected manually and processed to have the refined fine fat cells. Then the fat is infiltrated in the areas in small amounts using Coleman cannula.

Post-Operative Instructions

The area will be swollen and bruised for few days, maximum a weak. The doctor might prescribe, pain meds and antibiotics as needed.
Local care with ice, and anti-bruising cream for few days would do the trick. The outcome is seen in 6 weeks; some of the fat will be resorbed and might need to be retouched in 2-3 years.

A cancer diagnosis is very difficult to accept. Understanding that treating your skin cancer may result in scars or disfigurement can also be troubling. Your plastic surgeon understands your concerns and will guide you through treatment and explain the resulting effect on your health and appearance.
Skin cancer, much like any form of cancer, may require surgery to remove the cancerous growth. Your plastic surgeon can surgically remove cancerous and other skin lesions using specialized techniques to preserve your health and your appearance.
Although no surgery is without scars, your plastic surgeon will make every effort to treat your skin cancer without dramatically changing your appearance.

Skin Cancer Removal Procedure Steps

Depending on the size, type and location of the lesion, there are many ways to remove skin cancer and reconstruct your appearance if necessary.
The following are some of the possible procedure steps involved in skin cancer removal surgery:

Step 1 – Anesthesia

Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedures. The choices include local, intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.

Step 2 – Removal

A small or contained lesion may be removed with excision – a simple surgical process to remove the lesion from the skin. The closure is most often performed in conjunction with excision.
Skin cancer can be like an iceberg. What is visible on the skin surface or sometimes it is only a small portion of the growth.
Beneath the skin, the cancerous cells cover a much larger region and there are no defined borders. In these cases, your plastic surgeon may use frozen sections during the removal of your skin cancer to discover and define the borders of the cancerous area. Frozen sections are small parts of the tissue that are removed and immediately sent to the pathologist. These pieces of tissue are then quickly frozen so that he or she can examine them for cancer cells at the time of removal of cancer. This helps your plastic surgeon to make sure that all the cancer has been removed.
Alternatively, your plastic surgeon may recommend a specialized technique called Mohs surgery or Mohs micrographic surgery. This procedure may be performed by your plastic surgeon, or you may be referred to a surgeon that specializes in this procedure.
Mohs surgery is a procedure that is performed using multiple specially prepared frozen sections. The goal is to look for a clear margin – an area where the skin cancer has not spread. If clear margins are found, the resulting wound can be reconstructed. If clear margins are not present, the surgeon will remove more tissue until the entire region has a clear margin.

Step 3 – Reconstruction

A skin cancer lesion that is particularly large, is being removed with frozen sections or is likely to cause disfigurement may be reconstructed with a local flap.
Healthy, adjacent tissue is repositioned over the wound. The suture line is positioned to follow the natural creases and curves of the face if possible, to minimize the obviousness of the resulting scar.
Your surgeon may choose to treat your wound with a skin graft instead of a local flap. A skin graft is a thin bit of skin removed from one area of the body and relocated to the wound site.

Step 4 – See the results
After your skin cancer has been removed and any primary reconstruction is completed, a dressing or bandages will be applied to your incisions. Get more information on skin cancer removal results.

Skin Cancer Removal Results

Your plastic surgeon can treat your skin cancer by surgically removing cancerous skin and closing the resulting wound. Some forms of skin cancer require additional treatment such as radiation therapy.
Your physician will advise you about any follow-up treatment recommendations.
Reconstruction closes the skin cancer defect, but no reconstruction is perfect. Visible scars will always remain at incision sites. You may also see textural, color or other visible differences of the skin in reconstructed areas.
In some cases, treating your skin cancer can be disfiguring to your appearance.
Although every effort is made to restore your appearance as closely and naturally as possible, the most important factor is that your skin cancer is effectively removed.
Following your physician’s instructions is essential to the success of your surgery. It’s important that the surgical incisions are not subjected to excessive force, swelling, abrasion or motion during the time of healing.
Your doctor will give you specific instructions on how to care for yourself.

• Surgery duration: Varies.
• Anesthesia: general anesthesia.
• Recovery period: 2-4 weeks.

Important Considerations about Tummy Tuck
Not a Weight Loss Surgery
Tummy Tuck is not considered a weight loss procedure and should not be viewed as a substitute for good diet and exercise. The actual weight of the removed tissue is almost always less than 10 pounds.

The Ideal Weight for Tummy Tuck
Patients must have a body mass index (BMI) that is below 35, and ideally less than 30. Because as BMI increases beyond 35, the result tends not to be as good, and the risk of a complication tends to increase. If your abdomen has significant visceral adipose (fat beneath the muscle layer), muscle tightening will not be effective in the long-term. And it will bulge out again with time.

Pregnancy after Tummy Tuck

Tummy Tuck can be performed in patients who plan to have pregnancies in the future. There will be no ill-effects to the pregnancy or the baby’s growth and development, but patients should understand that pregnancy may alter their Tummy Tuck results.

Smoking & Tummy Tuck
Smoking is a significant risk factor for wound healing complications with a Tummy Tuck; we require you to stop smoking at least 15 days prior to surgery, and not to resume during the healing period.

Improving Shape & Tone
Many people seek body lift in Abu Dhabi and Dubai for several reasons: including aging, sun damage, pregnancy, significant fluctuations in weight and genetic factors may contribute to poor tissue elasticity that can result in sagging of the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs.

What is the Body Lift?

A body lift improves the shape and tone of the underlying tissue that supports skin and fat. Excess sagging skin and fat are removed, and the procedure(s) can improve a dimpled, irregular skin surface.
A body lift may include these areas:
• Abdominal area – locally or extending around the sides and into the lower back area
• Buttocks
• Thigh – the inner, outer or posterior thigh, or the thigh’s circumference

Preparing for Body Lift Surgery

In preparing for body lift surgery, you may be asked to:
• Get a lab test or a medical evaluation
• Take certain medications or adjust your current medications
• Stop smoking
• Avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements and other medications that may increase bleeding
Body lift surgery may be performed in an accredited office-based surgical facility, ambulatory surgical center or a hospital.
If your body lift is performed on an outpatient basis, be sure to arrange for someone to drive you to and from surgery. And to stay with you for at least the first night following surgery.

Body Lift Procedure Steps:

Body lift procedures are surgical procedures and they require extensive incisions. Incision length and pattern depend on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed, as well as surgical judgment.
Advanced techniques usually allow incisions to be placed in strategic locations where they can be hidden by most types of clothing and swimsuits.
STEP 1 – Anesthesia
Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.
STEP 2 – The Incision
One common technique of complete lower body lift uses incisions like a bikini pattern to tighten the abdomen, groin, waist, thigh and buttock in one procedure.
An incision around the body removes an apron of excess skin and fat and re positions and tightens tissues.
Sometimes surgical body lifts may require liposuction to achieve an improved contour.
STEP 3 – Closing the Incisions
Deep sutures within underlying tissues help to form and support the newly shaped contours. Sutures, skin adhesives, tapes or clips may be used to close the skin incisions.

Body Lift Results

The results of body lift surgery are visible almost immediately. However, it may take two years or more for the results of the body lift procedures to fully develop. Some visible scars will remain, but the overall results are long lasting, if you maintain a stable weight and general fitness. As your body ages, it is natural to lose some firmness. However, most of your initial improvement should remain.
Although good results are expected from your body lift surgery, there is no guarantee. In some situations, it may not be possible to achieve optimal results with a single surgical procedure and another surgery may be necessary. Following your physician’s instructions is essential to the success of your surgery. It is important that the surgical incisions are not subjected to excessive force, motion, swelling or abrasion during the time of healing. Our doctors will give you specific instructions on how to care for yourself.

A surgical Thigh lift in Abu Dhabi and Dubai may be right for you, if fitness and weight control efforts have not achieved your goals for a body that is firmer, more youthful-looking and more proportionate to your overall body image.

What is Thigh Lift?

Thigh lift surgery reshapes the thighs by reducing excess skin and fat, resulting in smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body.

Thigh Lift Procedure Steps
A thigh lift procedure includes the following steps:

STEP 1 – Anesthesia
Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedures. The options include intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best option for you.

STEP 2 – The Incision
Incision patterns vary based on the area or areas to be treated, degree of correction and patient and surgeon preference.

Inner thigh lift incision
During the consultation, our doctors will determine what is suitable for you from the following:
• One technique used for thigh lift places incisions in the groin, extending downward and wrapping around the back of the thigh.
• Another technique removes excess skin from the groin down to the knee using an incision along the inseam.
• You may also qualify for a minimal incision inner thigh lift that involves an incision only in the groin area.
Improving the contours of the outer thigh may require an incision extending from the groin around the hip and across the back.
Advanced techniques usually allow incisions to be placed in strategic locations where they can be hidden by most types of clothing and swimsuits.

STEP 3 – Closing the incisions
Deep sutures within underlying tissues help to form and support the newly shaped contours. Sutures, skin adhesive tapes or clips may be used to close the skin incisions.

STEP 4 – Thigh lift results
Following a thigh lift, skin quality is improved both in appearance and feel.
However, it may take several months for the final results to fully develop. The results of a thigh lift are visible almost immediately, although initially obscured by swelling and bruising. Some visible scars will remain, but the overall results are long lasting, if you maintain a stable weight and general fitness. Although good results are expected from your procedure, there is no guarantee. In some situations, it may not be possible to achieve optimal results with a single surgical procedure and another surgery may be necessary.

• Surgery duration: 1 – 2 hours.
• Anesthesia type: local or general anesthesia.
• Recovery period: 2 – 3 days.

Several weeks after the procedure.
Liposuction in Abu Dhabi and Dubai is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgical procedures.

What Is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a very simple surgical procedure that contours your body by literally sucking out the fat from your problem area, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. And it shows you the desired body re-shaping results in a single treatment.

Are You a Good Candidate for Liposuction?

Liposuction is the appropriate treatment for you if:
• You are an adult with a good health.
• You are not suffering from any diseases or obstacles that may affect the wound healing process.
• And not suffering from disproportionate fat deposits.
• You’re looking for a single treatment to see immediate results. Because all other non-invasive body contouring treatments require you to take up several sessions to see the results after several months.

Areas You Can Treat with Liposuction

• Abdomen / Stomach/ Tummy Region
• Hips, Thighs & Buttocks
• Upper Arms
• Back
• Chest
• Chin
• Face / Neck

What Should I Expect During Liposuction?

Depending upon the area being treated, our doctors will apply local or general anesthesia. Then she will make a small incision around the site of your fat deposits. After, a thin tube will be moved underneath your skin to loosen the fat cells. Then she will close your incisions with sutures.

Important Considerations about Liposuction

Not a Weight Loss Procedure. The reality is that most patients only lose about two to five pounds in total. The best candidates, in fact, are generally within 30% of a healthy weight range and have localized fat pockets they would like to reduce. But not for those who are overweight.

Liposuction Does Not Help Cellulite!
Cellulite is a condition that occurs near the skin’s surface. And because liposuction is only able to remove soft, fatty tissue (and does not directly affect the skin or other tissues), the fibrous connecting bands causing cellulite are not altered.

Fat Deposits Removed Will Return After Liposuction

Liposuction is “permanent” because fat cells do not multiply, so once they are removed, they cannot come back. Since liposuction works by breaking down body fat and converting it into a liquid form that’s drained using small suction tubes, the fat cells disappear forever. However, there will still be some remaining fat cells that can grow and expand the area if one’s calorie intact is excessive. The best way to prevent this is to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen.

Despite its name, a Brazilian butt lift is not a traditional “lifting” procedure – it does not address loose skin on the buttocks. If you are bothered by excess, sagging skin on the buttocks or thighs, thigh & body lift surgeries may be a more suitable option.

Genital

As we age, our bodies change and bear the signs of aging. In particular, the effects of aging are seen and felt for women—especially those who have gone through the process of childbirth. The effects are magnified for those women who have delivered multiple children.
Even more distressing for women is that the physical effects of childbirth on the female body often worsen over time. That means seemingly minor differences in appearance, function, and sexual gratification become more pronounced.

More specifically, pregnancy and childbirth have two (2) major impacts on the female body that are most common:
 • Vaginal relaxation and decreased sexual gratification.
 • Stress Urinary Incontinence

Childbirth, pregnancy can cause the vaginal muscles and tissues to become relaxed, stretched, and even protrude from the opening. These concerns can be repaired with vaginal rejuvenation surgery, also called vaginal tightening. Through an incision in the perineum, the surgeon can remove excess skin and tissues, tighten the length of the vaginal canal, and reduce the size of the vaginal opening.
This procedure is often combined with labia reduction, which involves reshaping enlarged lips of the vulva.

Am I a Candidate?

If you gave multiple births and had laxity you might be a good candidate. Your doctor will assess you and offer what is best for you.

What to Expect with the Procedure?

Done under regional or general anesthesia, takes 1-2 hours, the patient can go home the same day.

Post-Operative Instructions

Pain control for one week. Wound care with wash and local creams. Can resume normal activity after one month.

Labia minora reduction surgery, or labioplasty, is a remodeling of the enlarged inner lips of the vulva. Enlargement of the labia minora may be apparent from childhood, but most often it is acquired, caused by childbirth, age or infection. It may bother the patient in a functional (wearing clothes, during sports) or in an aesthetic way. The procedure removes skin and mucosa in a way that the scar is barely visible.

Am I a Good Candidate?
If you have been suffering from irritation or recurrent infections in the genital area, the doctor can assess you and see if you are a good candidate for labia minor reduction surgery.

What to Expect During the Procedure?
The procedure can be done under local anesthesia or regional anesthesia. The surgery takes around 45 mines to one hour, and the patient can go home the same day.

Post-Operative Instructions
The patient might encounter minimal pain and swelling. The patient is recommended to apply ice for few days, and local wound care with antiseptic and antibiotic ointment. In addition, she can go back to regular activities in 2 weeks, and the sutures dissolve on their own.

With aging and post pregnancy or weight reduction surgery patient may have volume loss in the genital area especially in the labia majora. So fat grafting can be used to augment the area and thus giving it more a youthful and healthy look.

Am I a Candidate?

If you suffer from volume loss in the outside pubis area and the labia major that causing old and atrophic looks, then your surgeon will assess if you will benefit from labia majora augmentation with fat grafting.

What to Expect During the Procedure?

It can be done alone or along with labia minor reduction and vaginal tightening. Thus, it can be done under local, general or regional anesthesia. It takes around 30-40 mines. The Doctor will assess if you are a good candidate and plan the areas to be injected.
Then plan the site of fat that is harvested mainly from the abdomen around the umbilicus. Under local anesthesia and using the aseptic technique, a tumescent fluid is injected in the area to be liposuctioned. Then the fat is collected manually and processed to have the refined fine fat cells.
Then the fat is infiltrated in the areas in small amounts using Coleman cannula.

Post-Operative Instructions

The area will be swollen and bruised for few days, maximum a weak. The doctor might prescribe, pain meds and antibiotics as needed.
Local care with ice, and anti-bruising cream for few days. The outcome is seen in 6 weeks; some of the fat will be resorbed and might need to be retouched or redone in 2-3 years.
